Business Development Manager – Morocco
Job description
The Business Development (BD) Manager reports into either the Head of BD (if leading development of a business-critical or high-risk project) or the Regional BD Lead. The BDM is responsible for originating new infrastructure projects and driving their development from JDA through to Financial Close.
About the role
- Developing a strong network of partners, co-developers, financiers and others to support the origination and delivery of infrastructure projects across Africa.
- Originating and evaluating new co-development opportunities.
- Researching and writing investment papers for InfraCo Africa’s Internal Development Committee (IDC) and PIDG’s Investment Committee (IC), presenting these and securing the necessary approvals to proceed.
- Undertaking thorough due diligence (financial, legal, political, technical, environmental and social) of new projects.
- Reviewing the proposed commercial structure and financial model for the project, identifying issues and proposing solutions.
- Working alongside the Regional BD Lead or Head of BD to negotiate all the necessary terms of the company’s involvement in a project.
- Building a strong working relationship with project partners.
- Contributing to and coordinating development activities on project.
- Challenging and shaping project plans and budgets to accurately forecast InfraCo Africa’s disbursements, manage and report progress, and mitigate any risks to the company.
- Problem-solving and driving delivery of your projects such that they reach Financial Close within the timeframe and budget approved by the IDC and IC, adjusting forecasts and seeking further budget if needed.
- Supporting the Regional BD Lead or Head of BD with the negotiation of InfraCo Africa’s full or partial exit from a project at or before Financial Close.
- Mentoring Business Development Analysts and supporting their personal development within the company.
