Job description

The responsibilities of the Power & Transmission Engineer will include:  

Business development 

  • Assist in the identification and evaluation of potential hydro power sites 

Feasibility & design 

  • Assist in performing technical (pre)feasibility studies for hydro power production, interconnection, transmission & distribution • Prepare drawings of grid interconnection and mini-grid systems • Perform technical designs and write specifications complying with standards  

Supervision of works 

  • Assess and support the selection of subcontractors  • Supervise sub-contractors during the execution of works 
  • Project monitoring 
  • Travel to project sites for project supervision and infrastructure inspection (production, transmission & distribution) 

QUALIFICATIONS 

 Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably in electrical engineering  OR Off Grid specialised Electrician 

Technical skills & experience 

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in renewable energy project design
  • Technical knowledge in energy systems, preferably involving small hydro power and mini-grids
  • Hands-on experience with electrical power systems or similar technical field required
  • Experience managing contractors and working with external parties 

 Attitude & soft skills 

  • Passionate about renewable energies and rural electrification
  • Ability to identify a problem and define adequate solutions independently
  • Ability to lead and communicate with a team
  • Methodical and organized, autonomous & responsible
