SOSTAP LIMITED
SOSTAP LIMITED, herein referred to as SOSTAP, is a renewable energy business which was incorporated in 2011 and started operations in 2015. SOSTAP supplies, installs and services solar home systems, component based solar systems, and productive use of energy products in agriculture including water pumps to both B2C and B2B clients.
Its target customers are households, small businesses, health centres, and cooperative unions. SOSTAP has connected over 3,500 rural households to off-grid solar systems and component-based solar systems in the following districts of Uganda: Sheema, Bushenyi, Kasese, Ntoroko, lsingiro, Rwampara, Mbarara, Kiruhura, Kazo, Sembabule, Masaka, Rakai, Mpigi, Wakiso, Kampala, Kyankwazi, Kitgum, among others.
SOSTAP is profitable with a net profit of USD 47,533 as of end of 2022. The company has raised grants of USD 40,000 through the Signify Foundation, a Dutch Multinational lighting corporation.
The achievements for Sostap is as follows:
- In 2019, SOSTAP launched and implemented a solar village project in Kinoni, Sheema district and the project impacted 100 households that were off-grid. On average, a single household has six individuals and hence the project benefitted over 600 individuals. SOSTAP equipped these households with basic lighting, phone charging and radios.
- In 2020, SOSTAP implemented a solar installation project to two health centres in the western region of Uganda and 5 health centres Ills in flood affected regions of Kasese district, namely: Kashare H/C Ill, Lake Mburo H/C 111, Kyanya SDA H/C 111, Kahokya H/C Ill, Kyarumba H/C 111, Kilembe H/C 111, and Kiraaro H/C Ill, respectively. SOSTAP also supplied 100 lanterns to 100 households of pregnant mothers in the flood affected areas. In total, the project benefitted well over 2,000 individuals.
