Business Development Assistant
Job description
At ARE, we unite over 200 members to power development worldwide. Our mission is to drive private sector-driven markets for sustainable electricity services, enable green jobs, power equitable green economies and facilitate the transition to renewable energy in Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America & the Caribbean.
ARE is recruiting a Business Development Assistant, starting in end of October 2024 for a duration of six months.
Our new Business Development Assistant, who will report to the Business and Market Development Officer, will play a pivotal role in implementing ARE’s working programme, with a focus on implementation of country activities, trainings and engaging with ARE members.
About the role
Project Support (60%):
- Support with capacity-building activities, such as organising masterclasses and investment trainings, from conceptualisation to implementation and reporting.
- Assist in the organisation of business delegations and webinars.
- Be a key player in organising and coordinating events like the Renewable Energy Access Days and Energy Access Investment Forums, involving liaising with speakers and programme implementation.
- Support the Business Development team as needed, which may include
developing the membership database, generating ideas, and drafting
proposals.
Membership engagement (40%):
- Identify and engage with potential new members who share our vision.
- Support in the sales of sponsorship packages for ARE events and webinars.
- Collaborate in enhancing membership satisfaction and ensuring the retention of existing ARE members.
- Deliver membership services to existing members.
About you
- You are interested in the topic and ready to learn about the challenges of the members.
- You bring a proactive mindset and a can-do attitude to the table.
- Attention to detail is your second nature.
- You have the ability to take ownership of activities and projects, making things happen.
- You can provide clear and concise deliverables even under time pressure.
- You hold a higher education degree in business and economics, law,
development, or related fields, or you have equivalent experience. - You have 0-3 years of experience in a similar role, or you’re a passionate
newcomer eager to make your mark. - You have the right to live and work in Belgium.
- Your proficiency in both written and spoken French and English (native speaker or equivalent) is a must.
- Knowledge of other languages, such as Portuguese and/or Spanish, is a
valuable asset.
