ARE calls for support for energy storage innovation in the DRE space
The Energy Storage Partnership (ESP) Stakeholders Forum and Partners Meeting 2024, hosted by the World Bank and MASEN (Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy) on November 4-7, 2024 in Marrakesh, Morocco, brought together industry leaders, government representatives, and experts to discuss energy storage advancements crucial for integrating renewable energy into power systems. Jens Jæger, Director of Policy & Business Development, represented the Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE) during the event.
The Forum’s purpose was to foster exchange on energy storage innovations and share successes from developing countries as they navigate the energy transition. World Bank clients, ESP partners, and private companies in the battery and storage sectors attended the event, underscoring ESP’s commitment to increasing renewable energy access and grid resilience globally.
As one of the key partners of ESP since its foundation, ARE promoted storage technologies for decentralised renewable energy solutions in the meeting.
Since its inception in 2019, ESP has expanded from 29 to 60 members. This growth reflects a deepened commitment to collaborative solutions for climate resilience.
Hosted by the World Bank’s Energy Sector Management Assistance Program, the partnership supported by climate funds signals an impactful journey towards a sustainable future where energy storage enables access, stability, and productivity in developing regions.
