Delivering Sustainable Remote Power to Dohoue Community: ENGIE Energy Access’ First Mini-Grid in Benin

ARE Member ENGIE Energy Access selected ARE Member Sustain Solar’s turnkey power system to help electrify Dohoue community in the Zogbodomey (Benin). SustainSolar supplied a 90 kW/130 kWh SUSTAIN COMPACT™ containerised power system with Victron, BYD and SUNGROW equipment sized to power 250 household and business connections. Dohoue is ENGIE’s first mini-grid in Benin, and 20+ further are in development to expand access to additional rural communities.

SustainSolar had the chance to visit Dohoue last year. It is a vibrant rural community with over 1,500 residents, and access to power will boost economic development opportunities for the local population. Specifically for women who will now have access to effective income-generating opportunities.

To ensure all ran smoothly, Sustain Solar’s Senior Project Engineer Björn Kahle travelled to the site with the ENGIE team for a successful site commissioning on January 2024.
