Job description

EDPR NA DG is looking for a Senior Manager to join the Project Finance team to focus on Front of the Meter (FTM) and Community Solar opportunities in the distributed generation space across North America. The position is an opportunity to creatively apply financial, legal, and structuring skills to drive value creation for the EDPR NA DG platform – developing external relationships with various market participants to create new projects and strategies, optimising existing FTM projects in the portfolio, and negotiating complex offtake agreements.

About the role

  • Lead various solar distributed generation transactions, with responsibility for origination efforts, synthetic Community Solar program management, M&A deal structuring (single asset or portfolio deals), and transaction execution;
  • Lead negotiations for offtake transactions (including the development and finalisation of key contracts/documents);
  • Manage Community Solar subscription efforts for both operating and development projects in EDPR’s portfolio, and navigate new and emerging community solar program guidelines across multiple different markets;
  • Manage relationships with new and prospective clients;
  • Coordinate due diligence processes for new Front of the Meter distributed solar generation deals;
  • Manage preparation of required documents for subscription efforts, community solar program/incentive program compliance, and internal investment approval processes;
  • Research federal and state-level regulations;
  • Update key internal databases regarding current deal-flow and live transactions;
  • Guide greenfield investments by fully understanding the key project development items related to interconnection, permitting, siting, and offtake;
  • Develop and audit financial models used in the valuation of new deals, both from the Community Solar/M&A team or arising from other business areas, such as Greenfield or Business Development, namely for Investment Decisions / Approvals;
  • Analyse financial statements and trends including written analysis of both actual and forecasted financial data;
  • Ensure efficient collaboration with other teams at the EDPR NA DG platform, including construction, engineering, development, operations, and asset management functions.

About the role

  • 5-7 years of experience with energy markets (general familiarity with the electricity industry and with the basics of power generation projects is helpful);
  • 3+ years of experience in FTM transactions and/or as well as financial analysis experience (financial modeling, econometrics, financial statement analysis, etc.)
  • Strong familiarity with community solar program dynamics and policy formulation
  • Optional: 2+ years of project development experience
  • Undergraduate degree; while there is no formal major/degree requirement, a quantitative or economics/financial background (either with a declared major or concentration) is strongly preferred
  • Strong leadership, team management skills and organisational commitment;
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and research skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (both written and verbal) and development skills;
  • Impeccable attention to detail and well organised;
  • Ability to develop and enhance stakeholder relationships.
